LearnNowBC
A wide range of DL courses meet Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines. LearnNowBC makes course selection easier by providing the Course Finder: a one-stop, searchable catalogue of all courses offered by DL schools in B.C. Students have the right to be registered at up to six schools in the province at one time, so it is acceptable to take separate online courses at different schools. Choose thoughtfully.

NOTE: Any grade 12 student who intends to use an online course for post-secondary entrance is strongly advised to have the course completed by February 1st of their grad year. This allows the mark to be processed and reported to the post-secondary institution in a timely manner. Course completion after February 1st may mean that post-secondary acceptance &/or course selection may be delayed or denied depending on the institution.
A successful online student :
• A/B student with strong work ethic • Typically has excellent attendance • Enjoys an academic challenge • Is a self-starter, succeeds with self-paced projects • Knows how to set goals & make a plan to reach goals • Has a structured lifestyle • Is a good time manager • Has a clear working environment at home • Has a support network to set a schedule and stick with a plan |
Independent learning is challenging and success is low.
In the regular classroom ~85% of students are successful. In paper correspondence courses ~3% of students are successful. In online distance education courses ~20-25% of students are successful. |
